100: The Opening Credits for John From Cincinnati
HBO's now defunct drama that focused on surfing and faith was a huge disappointment to many, I would consider myself one of those many. On paper the show had a lot of potential--good surfers, Kem Nunn who is a great writer, and a cool metaphysical bent; unfortunately the show got overly obsessed with religion and forgot one of the surf tribes most treasured things--good story. What came out was a gritty slow moving show that lacked water, but still felt like a slog.
However all was not in vain, the show had a great introduction set to Joe Strummer and the Mescalaro's Johny Appleseed. This introduction is a work of art in itself and hopefully in time will distance itself from an otherwise unmemorable show.
