My Uncle is a consultant in the fishing industry and took this picture in March. The pictures shows a really nice and somewhat known surf spot outside of Sitka Alaska. The large black blob just behind the waves is not an oil spill but millions of herring on their spring run. As ocean people we often give praise and attention to our larger cousins of the sea, but we often neglect the little guys that we and everyone else in the sea love to snack on. It is for this reason that I am including the often ignored but easily digestible "bait fish" in the top 100.
