85: Parking lot Swell

Every once in a while a huge swell comes through that changes ever ones attitude. It is so big that everyone except the exceptionally skilled and the exceptionally stupid decide to stay in the parking lot and simply enjoy the power of the ocean. We were fortunate enough to witness a few of these occasions when we lived down in Mexico. When a really big swell would arrive, the whole town would stop what they were doing, grab some beer or coco frios and watch. The same thing happens on the island, although to a lesser extent. A really big swell seems to strip everyone of their attitude because we simply don't have that many skilled big wave riders. Anyway it is the end of August, prime time for the parking lot swells in southern Baja; but we in the Norther Wester still have a few months to go.
