A lazy Sunday, has turned into a feast of handmade corn tortillas, homemade refritos , elderberry wine and tunes by Jimmy cliff. I have not been able to find a tortilla press in Victoria, so I have been using a heavy book and a plastic bag--it works great.

my folks brought us a press from Florida last summer just like the alum one pictured in your post. they are indispensable. bet you could easily make a wooden one though. I love Mexican food. it's the only thing I miss about living in the states. there's no Mexican food in the Maritimes.
