84: Roads that bend

Any surfer will be able to describe that one bend in the road that first shows the coast. The bend in the road marks a transition from leaving the city to almost at the beach. Their are several bends that I love, but one in paticular stands out. If you drive south as far as you can you leave Canada and the United States. At first Mexico is disapointing--dirt towns and failed condo projects abound--don't lose faith, keep going. If you keep going about four hours from the border the road will suddenly bend, once that happens you will realise it was all worth it. Everything opens up and you realise that you are high above the ocean, you can see many headlands and numerous surf posssibilities. To get to the beach from the road can be a bit of a mission, but it is always worth it.
