Mysto Wave

Ten years ago I had the good fortune of doing a circumnavigation of Vancouver Island on a sailboat. At the time I was just learning to surf, but I saw a great deal of setups that now seem appealing. One day when we were on the remote Northwest Coast of the Island we came upon a really nice A frame wave breaking on an offshore reef. I took a picture of it, but lost the picture shortly after I took it, this was before digital was mainstream. Over the years I have often thought about that wave and wondered if it was real, or if it was as good as my mind had made it over the years. Today while sorting books my wife found the picture I took. It still looks good to me, I doubt anyone has ever ridden it, and there is a good chance that I never will either. But regardless I feel fortunate to have been there to see it break.
